10 passengers fell from local in Thane, 4 killed

10 passengers fell down from the moving local trains near Mumbai’s Mumbra railway station on Monday morning. Of these, 4 were killed, while 13 were injured. GRP constables are also among those who died. All of them were standing at the train gate. The incident took place between Diva and Kopar railway stations in front of Mumbra at 9:30 am.

Due to office time, there was more crowd in the train, causing this accident. According to the railway, probably these passengers were hanging from the footboard of trains. Their bags collided with each other at the time of passing close to trains in the opposite direction.

Earlier it was reported that the accident took place with the passengers of Pushpak Express going to Lucknow. The train left Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai at around 8.30 am and passed away from the spot shortly after the accident.

Railways said- passengers’ bags were entangled

On the Mumbra railway accident, CPRO Swapnil Dhanraj Neela of Central Railway said, ‘The incident took place on a down/fast line between Mumbra and Diva stations. The local train coming from Kasara and passengers standing at the gate of another train going towards CSMT collided.

Those who died have been identified as Ketan Saroj, Rahul Gupta, Mayur Shah and Thane Government Railway Police (GRP) constable Vicky Mukhiyad. The guards of the train going towards Kasara informed the railway officials about the incident.

Railways will install automatic door in local trains

Dilip Kumar, Executive Director of Railway Board Information and Publicity Department, said that after the tragedy in Maharashtra, the ministry has decided to provide the facility to close the automatic door in all local trains being built for the Mumbai suburban area. Kumar said that all currently running coaches will be re -designed and the door closure will be provided in these trains of Mumbai suburban area.
