Today, on the occasion of Janmashtami, we know the story of Sumedha’s life.
How did you get the character of Shri Krishna
Once in an old interview to HeTimes, Sumedh Vasudev Mudgalkar spoke openly about his experience of playing the role of ‘Lord Krishna’ in the prestigious show, Radhakrishna. The young actors were lost in the old memories when they said that they had started preparing for their role a month before the show’s main photography started. Sumedh Mudgalakar admitted that he and his entire team had worked hard, and being a part of Radhakrishna is a major achievement for him on a personal level. There is no doubt that Radhakrishna has given a big boost to Sumedha’s career. In an old interview, when Sumedha was asked about his casting for the role of ‘Lord Krishna’, the main character of the show, he narrated a shocking anecdote.
Negative role was offered
Sumedh Vasudev Mudgalkar said that when he initially approached the show, ie Radhakrishna’s casting directors, he offered him a negative role and asked him to come for audition. Although Sumedha initially rejected it, he decided to audition on someone’s advice as Siddharth Kumar Tiwari was the director of the show. Sumedadh went there and auditioned for a negative character, but something happened and the next morning he got the role of Lord Krishna. He said, ‘I auditioned for that role, although he was a negative role. But, I was surprised when the next day he called me and said that I would have to go back and shoot a mock for the role of Lord Krishna. Later, I came to know that producer Siddharth Kumar Tiwari feels that I can play the role of Lord Krishna. At first I could not believe it, but then my best effort was focused on explaining to the team how I can play this role. And everything else is history. ‘
Premier Hua Aa Tha in 2018
Star India’s show, Radhakrishna, aired in 2018 and had 1145 episodes. It is still considered one of the most successful shows in TV history. If we talk about the remuneration of the show’s lead artist Sumedadh Vasudev Mudgalkar for the role of Lord Krishna, then he allegedly took Rs 65,000 per episode. The actor’s total earnings from the show stood at around Rs 7.47 crore. This huge amount is also justified as Sumedha’s character of Lord Krishna and her chemistry with Mallika Singh (Radha) and Rukmini (Zalak Desai) was absolutely accurate.
