This is being done due to the work related to upgradation of one runway. According to PTI news, Delhi Airport Director Dial has given this information on Friday. The upgradation work of the runway RW 10/28, which was postponed in May after congestion issues, will now be done from June 15 to September 15.
How many runways are there at Delhi Airport?
According to the news, the Instrument Landing System (ILS) will be upgraded to create according to the runway Cat III, which will allow flight operations in a low visibility condition during the fog season. It has four runways – RW 09/27, RW 11R/29L, RW 11L/29R and RW 10/28 – and two operating terminals – T1 and T3. The T2 is currently closed for maintenance works. How much daily flights will be reduced
Videha Kumar Jaipuriar, CEO of Delhi International Airport Limited (Dial) said on Friday that RW 10/28 will not be operational for three months from June 15. According to Dial, a total of 200 flights will be impacted during the period from June 15 to September 15, 114 will be canceled and the remaining 86 will be rescheduled from Peak Hour to Non-Pick Hour. Jaipuriyar said that the operation will start again on the runway from September 15, while the ILS upgrade will be completed by 27 November, which is just before the fog starts. The CEO of Dial emphasized that the resade and cancellation of flights are not going to have any major impact, especially when passengers are already being informed.
