In fact, CJI was also shocked by the demand that the woman made in lieu of divorce. The woman demanded that she needed Rs 18 crore, a house in Mumbai and a BMW car. Yes! In lieu of ending the marriage, the woman put these three conditions from her husband. But the remarks made by Chief Justice of the country Justice Gawai became the subject of discussion.
CJI Gawai said clearly, you have written so educated, you should not ask for yourself, but should eat yourself. This is how demand should not be made. However, the woman’s lawyer argued that this demand is part of ‘settlement’, no ‘begging’. Now the Supreme Court has reserved its decision.
Demand for ‘maintenance’ every month instead of divorce
Let me tell you that earlier a similar case of maintenance had reached in the Karnataka High Court. The judge was also surprised to hear the maintenance amount sought by the wife. The wife had demanded her husband to pay Rs 6,16,300 every month for maintenance. Hearing the demand for such a huge maintenance in lieu of divorce, the judge said that it is exploited and outside to tolerance. Come with the right figures, who spends such an amount?
