– 20.58 lakh new employees registered under ESI scheme in September
New Delhi, 19 November (HS). There is good news on the employment front. There has been an increase in the number of new members joining the scheme of Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC). The number of new members joining ESIC has increased by more than nine percent on an annual basis in the month of September to 20.58 lakh.
The Ministry of Labor and Employment said in a statement issued on Tuesday that the data of ESIC payroll employees has shown that 20.58 lakh new employees have been added in September. This is nine percent more than the number of new employees registered in ESIC during September 2023, which was 18.88 lakh. This shows that jobs are increasing in the organized sector.
The ministry said that during September this year, 23,043 new establishments have come under the ambit of the social security scheme of the ESI scheme. This has ensured social security for the workers working in those establishments. According to the data, out of the total 20.58 lakh employees added during this period, 10.05 lakh employees are in the age group of up to 25 years. This number is about 48.83 percent of the total registration. Along with this, analysis on male-female basis shows that the net registration of female members in September, 2024 was 3.91 lakh. The ministry said the payroll data is provisional. The reason for this is this continuous process.
