25 crore employees across the country will go on strike- banking, post, transport, factories will be happy
Nationwide strike: More than 25 crore employees engaged in banking, insurance to coal mining, highway and construction are going to strike nationwide strike on 9 July. This comprehensive strike across the country is sure to affect the essential services. A group of 10 central labor organizations and their associate units have called for this general strike or ‘Bharat Bandh’ to ‘oppose the government’s anti-labor, anti-farmer and anti-national corporate-supportive policies’. The group of labor organizations called for making ‘nationwide general strike widespread successful’, saying that preparations have been started for the strike in all areas of formal and informal/ unorganized economy.
Strike will have a direct impact on these areas
Amarjeet Kaur of All India Trade Union Congress said, “More than 25 crore employees are expected to participate in the strike. Farmers and rural employees will also be a part of this strike to be held across the country. ”Harbhajan Singh Sidhu of Hind Mazdoor Sabha said that banking, post, coal mining, factories, state transport services will be affected due to the strike. The group said in a statement that last year the group had handed over a charter of 17 demands to Labor Minister Mansukh Mandavia. The group said that the government has not been organizing the annual labor conference for the last 10 years and is taking decisions against the interests of the labor force.
What is the demand of employees
The statement said, “We are demanding the government to focus on unemployment, recruit up to sanctioned posts, creation of more jobs, work days and wages of MNREGA workers and make similar laws for urban areas. But the government is busy implementing the ELI (encouragement related encouragement) scheme to encourage employers. “The group also alleged that instead of giving regular appointments to the youth in government departments, the policy of hiring retired people is harmful to the country’s growth as 65 percent of the population is less than 35 years old and the number of unemployed is the highest in the age of 20 to 25 years.
Notice of involvement of government departments and companies in strike
NMDC Limited and other non-Koyla minerals, steel, state government departments and public sector enterprises have also given notice to join the strike. Labor leaders said that the United Kisan Morcha and the United Front of Agricultural Labor Organizations have also supported the strike and decided to mobilize a large scale in rural India. Labor organizations had earlier carried out a similar nationwide strike on 26 November, 2020, 28-29 March 2022 and 16 February last year.
