US President Donald Trump has issued a new executive order, under which the US will impose import tariffs on 69 countries and 27 -member European Union (EU). The order was signed late Thursday night and will be effective from 7 August 2025. Countries whose name is not in this list will apply 10 percent default tariff rate. According to the news, Trump’s initiative is part of his strategy to strengthen “mutual” business relations. The tariff rates of many countries have been significantly increased, while some countries have prevented heavy duty due to last -minute agreements.

Due to this extended date

The White House had fixed the deadline by Friday, making many countries pressurized to compromise at the last minute or face tight tariffs. According to senior administrative officials, the decision not to implement the tariff by 7 August has been taken to better adjust the new tariff schedule. The highest tariff rate countries include Syria (41%), Switzerland (39%), Laos and Myanmar (40%), Iraq and Serbia (35%), and Libya and Algeria (30%). At the same time, countries like Taiwan, India and Vietnam will apply tariff rates between 20 and 25 percent.

This new order can have a profound impact on global trade, as the US is demanding more uniform and beneficial agreements with its business partners. Earlier, the US had increased tariffs due to trade disputes with various countries, and this step is being considered to further strengthen those policies.
