250 roads closed in Himachal, heavy rain will be held from 21 to 23 July; I amd’s alert

Shimla: 250 roads have been closed due to heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh and the local Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert of heavy to very heavy rainfall in different areas of the state. The State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) said that a total of 181 roads in the disaster affected mandi, 26 in Sirmaur and 23 roads in Kullu district are closed while 61 water supply schemes and 81 power supply have been affected till Friday morning.
‘Orange’ alert of 3 days heavy rain
The Meteorological Department has issued a ‘Orange’ alert warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in different areas of Himachal Pradesh on 21 and 23 July and has issued a ‘Yellow’ alert warning of heavy rains at some places in the state till Sunday. Orange alert has been issued for Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur districts. People have been advised to be vigilant during this period and avoid unnecessary travel.
The Meteorological Department uses four colors to issue meteorological alerts in the country. These colors and their messages- green (no action needed), yellow (keep an eye and monitor), orange (be prepared) and red (needs of action/help).
112 deaths so far, the state lost 1200 crores
On Thursday evening, some parts of the state received light to moderate rainfall. Jogindernagar received 40 mm, Sarahan 38 mm, Jattan Barrage 28.6 mm, Kothi 28.4 mm, Shilaru 26.4 mm, Murari Devi 26 mm, and Narkanda and 23-23 mm in Jot and 23-23 mm. The SEOC said that since the arrival of the monsoon on June 20, till July 17, about 112 people have lost their lives in which 67 people have been killed in rain -related incidents and 45 in road accidents. The SEOC reported that around 199 people were injured while 35 are missing.
22 incidents of cloudburst and 19 incidents of landslides
The department said that Himachal Pradesh suddenly flooded in this monsoon 31 times, 22 incidents of cloudburst and 19 landslides were lost and the state has lost more than Rs 1,220 crore. (With language inputs)
