26.34 lakh people suspended from this government scheme, these reasons came out
Maharashtra government Has suspended 26.34 lakh people from “Chief Minister Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana”. According to a statement issued by the state’s Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tattakre, there were cases of gaining benefits despite being found ineligible in the verification process. Let us tell you that in June 2024, the Maharashtra government had approved the launch of “Chief Minister Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana” scheme for financial assistance of women in the state. Under this scheme, financial assistance of Rs 1500 is provided to eligible women aged 21 to 65 years in Maharashtra every month.
How many cases came up in investigation
Aditi Tatkare said on X, “It has been found that some beneficiaries were taking advantage of many schemes, some families had more than 2 beneficiaries and in some cases men had also applied for the scheme. The Women and Child Development Department had sought information from all government departments to confirm the eligibility of all applications.
People found eligible in investigation will get benefit again
The benefit of 26.34 lakh ineligible applicants has been temporarily suspended since June 2025. However, the concerned District Collector will verify the details of all the 26.34 lakh beneficiaries whose benefits have been temporarily suspended. If these people are found eligible in verification, then the government will resume the benefits given to them. According to an Economic Times report, after consulting Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, the government will decide to take appropriate action against the beneficiaries who have taken advantage by giving incorrect information.
Eligibility for Chief Minister Majhi Ladki Bahin Scheme
- The woman should be a resident of the state of Maharashtra.
- Only one woman in a family can take advantage.
- The age of the beneficiary should be between 21 years to 65 years.
- The beneficiary should have its own bank account, which is linked to his base.
- The annual income of the beneficiary’s family should not exceed Rs 2.50 lakh.
