In the last month i.e. April 2025, 3,48,847 units of passenger vehicles were dispatched from Automobile Manufacturers’ plant to dealership across the country. It has recorded an increase of 4 percent on an annual basis. According to PTI news, the industry body Siam gave this information on Thursday. Earlier in April 2024, the dispatch of passenger vehicles was 3,35,629 units. SIAM Director General Rajesh Menon said that the passenger vehicle (passenger vehicle segment) recorded the highest sales of 3.49 lakh units in April 2025 so far, which is a 3.9 percent increase compared to April 2024.

Two wheeler dispatch reduced by 17%

According to the news, however, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) said in a statement that the dispatch of total two-wheelers declined by 17 percent to 14,58,784 units in April. In April 2024, wholesale sales of bikes, scooters and mopeds were 17,51,393 units. Last month, scooter sales were 5,48,370 units, which is 6 percent less than 5,81,277 units in April 2024. In April, the motorcycle dispatch fell 23 percent to 8,71,666 units from year to year.

Wholesale sales were 38,748 units last month

The wholesale sales of the moped were 38,748 units last month, which is 8 percent lower than 41,924 units in the same period of a year ago. Menon said that the two -wheeler segment saw a high base effect in April last year, while it is likely to rise in the coming months. The sale of three-wheelers had reduced to 49,441 units from the last month to 49,441 units from year to year.

Menon said that the auto industry has smooth the new regulatory system of the second phase of on-board diagnostics (OBD) 2 regulation for two-wheelers and three-wheelers since April 2025, besides this month, Gasoline vehicles have also been introduced across the country.
