The online gaming promotion and regulation Bill, 2025 was passed from Parliament on Thursday. Speaking to India TV on this bill, Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the online gaming sector has three segments mainly. Under this bill, two of these segments will be promoted, while one will be curbed.

“Beneficial for e-Sports Society”

He said that the segment which is beneficial for the society is e-Sports. This segment will be promoted through the bill. It is a competitive game and will be given legal recognition. For this, the authority will be formed on the lines of ‘Sports India Authority’, which will work to promote e-sports.

The Union Minister said that the second segment is online social gaming. This segment is a medium of entertainment and education, including sports such as Sudo and chess. It will also be encouraged under the Bill.

What said on online money gaming?

At the same time, about online money gaming, he said that this is the segment which will be imposed strong control. Ashwini Vaishnav said that it has emerged as a serious problem in the society. Has raised this subject with MPs and MLAs of every state of the country. He said that due to such sports, cases of suicide have been reported and people are falling victim to addiction. It is estimated that about 45 crore people have been affected by this and a savings of about 20 thousand crores of middle class families have gone to these games.
