5 -storey building collapsed in Karachi, Pakistan
Karachi: A multi -storey residential building collapsed in Karachi, Pakistan on Friday, killing at least seven people and eight others were injured. This information has been given from media reports. Referring to the police statement, the ‘Don’ newspaper said that efforts are on to evacuate the trapped people in the wreck of the building on Fida Hussain Shekha Road in Baghdadi area of Lyari in the city.
The building was built in 1974
Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui posted on ‘X’, “A five -storey building in Baghdadi, Lyari has collapsed. Relief and rescue operations continue.” Siddiqui later told the media at the scene that seven bodies had been recovered. This five -storey building built in 1974 was in the list of dilapidated buildings in the old areas of Karachi. Lyari is one of the most crowded, lower and low -income areas of Karachi.

Many people trapped in debris
Quoting rescue personnel, Geo News said that officials estimate that 25 people may still be stranded in the debris. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has instructed the officials to expedite the rescue work. He has directed the Sindh Building Control Authority to present a report and identify all dangerous structures in the city. (Language)
