Provision to provide safe and affordable services to passengers

Last month, Union Cooperative Minister Amit Shah unveiled a comprehensive cooperative policy for the region indicated that a cooperative cab service would be introduced by the end of 2025. “The main objective is to ensure better returns to drivers and provide quality, safe and affordable services to passengers,” NCDC Deputy Manager Rohit Gupta told PTI. This enterprise operates without any government share and is completely funded by cooperative societies. Its founding members also include Krishak Bharti Cooperative Limited (Kribhco), National Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (NABARD), National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), and National Cooperative Export Limited (NCEL).

200 drivers joined Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra and UP

Rohit Gupta said that about 200 drivers have already joined the cooperative society, of which 50-50 are from Delhi, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. The cooperative society is actively contacting other cooperative organizations to expand its network. The cooperative institution has issued a tender to choose a tech partner to develop the ‘Ride-Helin’ app. Gupta said, “We will finalize the tech partner in a few days.”

App will be ready by December

He further said that the app is expected to be ready by December. A tech advisor and Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Bangalore has been included to formulate a marketing strategy for this All India platform. This service will adopt a cooperative pricing model and is currently undergoing membership campaign to increase operation. These steps have been taken at a time when the cooperative sector wants to take advantage of its collective power to compete with private companies installed in the rapidly growing ‘ride-having’ market.
