When Doordarshan rejected Madhuri Dixit!
Bollywood’s ‘Dhak Dhak Girl’ Madhuri Dixit has made her own place in the film industry with her work and dance. Madhuri Dixit is named among the successful Bollywood actresses. But do you know that there was a time when Doordarshan rejected Madhuri Dixit’s show saying that there is no power in its cast.
Actually, this is from the year 1984. Director Anil Tejani made a TV show for Doordarshan. The show was named ‘Bombay Mary Hai’. Madhuri Dixit was in the lead role of this serial and she was accompanied by a well-known actor Benjamin Gilani. Madhuri was about to make an acting debut through the show. There was also Mazhar Khan in this serial.

When the first episode of the show was prepared and sent to Doordarshan, it was told from his side that the story is fine but there is no power in its star cast. After rejections from Doordarshan, Anil Tejani did not complete the serial.
After the reject of this serial, Madhuri Dixit made her acting debut with Rajshree Productions’s film ‘Abodh’ (1984). However, he got recognition from the 1988 superhit film ‘Tezaab’. For this, her name was nominated for Filmfare’s Best Actress Award.
