Nawazuddin Siddiqui sold coriander, security job during tight days

Nawazuddin Siddiqui was born on 19 May 1974 in Budhana village of Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. In 1999, Nawazuddin Siddiqui came to Mumbai to dream of becoming an actor. Nawazuddin used to work on the back stage. Used to clean the stage, bring tea and water for actors.

After a lot of hard work, he got an opportunity to work in Aamir Khan’s film ‘Sarfarosh’ released in 1999. Munnabhai could not create his grip between the audiences despite appearing in many films like MBBS, Black Friday, Dev D and New York. He got the real identity from the film Peepli Live released in 2010.

In 2012, Anurag Kashyap offered him the role of Faizal in Gangs of Wasseypur after appearing in the audience from Peepli Live and this one role overturned Nawaz’s luck. Since then, he got a line of offers of more than one film.

Even after being a student of the National School of Drama, Nawazuddin had to face rejections several times in the initial days. He was tired of auditioning. The TV manufacturers once insulted him very much. They were justified by saying that if you take you, more lights would have to be installed.

During the struggle, Nawazuddin worked as a watchman in Mumbai, but was fired from there, while he got the job after hard work. He filled the security amount by borrowing money from his friend. Nawazuddin was physically weak, so he was often sitting on duty. One day when the owner caught sight of him, he had to lose his job. They did not even get back the security money.

Nawaz had told that during the days of Tanghali, he reached Dadar’s vegetable market with his friend and bought coriander for 200 rupees. Then started selling coriander shouting ‘Ek Gaddi of 10’. In a short time the coriander started turning black and withering. Then he returned to the vegetable. When asked the reason, he said that you had poured water?

After this, both of them went towards the house on foot. Nawazuddin had told that in the struggle to get a role in films, there was a time in his life that he did not even have the money to juggle for two times. Finally, Nawazuddin came to his senior of Siddiqui College to ask for a loan and got tears in Nawaz’s eyes as soon as he got a loan of 50 rupees.

Nawazuddin has acted in many successful films including Talaash, The Lunch Box, Kick, Badlapur, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Manjhi The Mountain Man, Raees during his cine career.
