The Telugu film industry may suffer a major setback from June 1, as Andhra Pradesh and Telangana exhibitions have announced the closure of theaters. The step has been taken due to long-running dissatisfaction from the current fare-based revenue model. In the first joint meeting held with the Adjusting Association on Sunday, the exhibitions expressed support for a change in percentage-based models and have formally agreed to issue requests and closed notices.

Internal disagreement

Around 60 exhibitions attended the meeting of the Adjusting Association on Sunday, including giants of industries like Dil Raju and Suresh Babu. However, several major distributors and manufacturers were absent, indicating internal disagreement on the proposal.

Many films will be released impressed

If the shutdown continues, the release of many big films may be affected. Kamal Haasan’s thugs (dubbing in Telugu and Tamil version in Telugu states) and Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Har Veera Mallu, which is releasing on June 12, may have to face distribution related problems in single-screen theaters. Only those multiplexes can continue the shows that are not affiliated to the union of the exhibitions.

Concern about OTT platform

Exhibitors have also expressed concern about the release of films on OTT platform soon after release in theaters. He has requested that successful titles be prevented from release on digital platforms for a long time. The film Chamber will be presented a formal representation, and further discussion is expected before the June 1 deadline in an attempt to reach the solution.
