IMD said in the weather bulletin, “There is a possibility of thunderstorms and rain on May 23 and 24. On May 25 and 26, the weather will be normal again with potential thunderstorms and partially cloudy with electricity. On May 27, shower is expected to occur with rain or thunderstorms.”
Red alert issued in Mumbai
IMD has issued ‘Red’ and ‘Orange’ alerts in many districts of Maharashtra for the next few days and has predicted extremely heavy to very heavy rainfall. The Meteorological Office has issued an orange alert for Mumbai for May 23 and 24, warning of strong winds at a speed of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour at different places and warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall with thunder. The IMD has attributed the formation of a low pressure system on the East-Central Arabian Sea, away from the coast of South Konkan and Goa for this seasonal activity. IMD has predicted that it is likely to rain in Konkan and other parts of Maharashtra.
Possibility of heavy rains in Kerala

Apart from this, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert on May 23 in 12 districts of Kerala, in nine districts on 24 May, 10 districts on 25 May and 7 districts on 26 May. The IMD said that during the day, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain at one or two places in Kottayam and Idukki districts during the day and strong winds at a speed of 40 kmph.
Heavy rain in West Bengal
According to the update of IMD, the coastal areas of West Bengal are expected to receive heavy rains from May 28, as there is a possibility of a low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal. The Meteorological Department said that in the presence of favorable air patterns and moisture entry from the Bay of Bengal, some districts of West Bengal are expected to rain with strong winds and strong thunderstorms during the next few days from Thursday. The Meteorological Department said that around May 27, there is a possibility of a low pressure area in the Bay of west-central and adjacent to it, which will become more clear in the next two days.
Orange alert issued in Telangana
IMD has issued heavy rains, thunderstorms and lightning-falling orange alerts at different places in Kumram Bhim Asifabad, Manchurial and other districts of Telangana, after which there is a possibility of thunderstorms and lightning in the next few days. Many places in the state received heavy to moderate rainfall. The Telangana Development Scheme Society said that Narnur in Adilabad district received 126.8 mm of rain, followed by 82.3 mm of rain in Talmadugu in the same district. The IMD weather center here said that in the coming days, there is a possibility of light to moderate rains or thunderstorms in many places in Telangana.
