Shani pradosh vrat: Shani Pradosh Vrat is mainly dedicated to Lord Shiva. ‘Pradosh’ means the time around the sunset and at the same time Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati are worshiped. When is Shani Pradosh fast: When Trayodashi Tithi (which is for Pradosh fast) falls on Saturday, then it is called Shani Pradosh Vrat. This coincidence makes this fast even more special, because Saturday is the day of Shani Dev.

Jyeshtha Krishna Trayodashi date starts: from 07:20 minutes on 24 May 2025,

Auspicious time of worship in Pradosh period: 07:20 pm to 09:13 minutes on 24 May 2025

Total duration of worship on Trayodashi: 01 hours 54 minutes

Worship method:

1. In the morning: Get up in Brahma Muhurta and retire from bathing and wear clean clothes.

2. Resolution: Remembering Lord Shiva and resolve to fast.

3. Temple cleaning: Clean the temple of the house and install the statue of Shiva family (Shiva-Parvati, Ganesh, Karthikeya, Nandi).

4. Pradosh Kaal Puja: Start worship in Pradosh Kaal (between 4:30 pm and 7:00 pm, local time) after sunset.

5. Abhishek: Anoint Ganga water, milk, curd, ghee, honey, sugar on the Shivling.

6. Arpan: Offer Belpatra, Aak’s flowers, dhatura, cannabis, sandalwood, ash to Lord Shiva.

7. Deepak and Sun: Light a lamp of ghee and incense.

8. Chanting Mantra: Chant the mantra ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ as much as possible. You can also recite Shiva Chalisa, Rudrashtak or Shani Chalisa.

9. Worship of Shani Dev: After worshiping Lord Shiva, also worship Shani Dev. Offer them mustard oil, black sesame, blue flowers and chant the mantra ‘Om Shan Shanishrai Namah’.

10. Story Shravan: Read or listen to the story of Shani Pradosh Vrat.

11. Aarti: Perform aarti of Shivji and Shani Dev.

12. Dan: According to your ability, donate black clothes, black sesame, urad dal, oil, blanket etc. to the poor.

13. Paran: The next day, after bathing in the morning, remember the Lord by remembering and worshiping God.
