Preity Zinta, who was angry about umpiring, said- ‘Such mistakes are not to be tolerated’
In 66th match of IPL 2025 Delhi Capitals Having defeated Punjab Kings by 6 wickets and ended his tournament with the concluding victory. In this match, the players as well as the umpiring were in the news and a strange incident was also seen in the match which surprised everyone.
Karun Nair, who was standing on the boundary after catching the shot of Shashank Singh on the last ball of the 15th over, gave a six, but when the third umpire checked, he gave a blow to the fans of Punjab by not giving it a six. Now after the match, Bollywood actress and Punjab Kings mistress Preity Zinta has questioned the standards of umpiring in the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025).
During the 15th over of the first innings thrown by Mohit Sharma, Shashank Singh played the last ball of the over towards Long On. Karun Nair, posted on the long on boundary, flick the ball back inside the boundary to save this six. However, during his brilliant attempt, Nair felt that his leg would have touched the rope holding the ball in his hands and hence he also indicated a six.
To overcome suspicion, the decision was sent to the third umpire Chris Gaffney, who found no decisive evidence to indicate a six, which meant that Punjab was given only one run. After the match, Preity Zinta expressed disappointment on this decision on her X account, saying that such mistakes are unacceptable given the technology available with the third umpire.
In a such a high profile tournament with so much technology at the third umpire’s disposal such mistakes are unacceptable & simply Shouldn’T Happen. I spoke to karun after the game & he confirmed it was definitely a 6! I rest my case! #Pbksvsdc #IPL2025 https://t.co/o35ycueunp
