Heavy rains and thunderstorms in Mumbai, Air India issued advisory for passengers

The strong rains and thunderstorms continue to wreak havoc in Mumbai. There is a continuous rain in the suburban areas of Mumbai. The Meteorological Department has also issued a warning of torrential rain in Mumbai. Visibility has reduced considerably due to heavy rains and thunderstorms. In such a situation, this rain has also affected traffic. Aircraft operations are being affected. In such a situation, the aviation company Air India has issued advisory for passengers.

Air India advised passengers

In the advisory issued on heavy rains in Mumbai and its surrounding areas, Air India said- “Aircraft operations are being affected due to rain and thunderstorms in Mumbai. To facilitate the journey, we recommend our passengers to check our flight situation before going to the airport.”

Where so much rain in Mumbai?

The heavy rains continue to wreak havoc in Mumbai. Between 9 am and 10 pm, the highest rainfall in just one hour was recorded at Nariman Point Fire Station, where 104 mm of rain was recorded. Apart from this, 86 mm in A Ward Office, 83 mm in Colaba Pumping Station, and 80 mm of rainfall in Municipal Head Office. The Colaba Fire Station measured 77 mm, 67 mm at Grant Road Eye Hospital, 65 mm at Memmmada Fire Station, 63 mm in Malabar Hill and 61 mm in D Ward.

Talking about Eastern Saberbes, there is less rainfall. Mankhurd Fire Station and MPS School Mankhurd recorded only 16 mm, 14 mm in Nutan Vidyalaya Mandal and 13 mm in Collector Colony. Western Saberbes has received 29 mm of Bandra Betel Tank, Gajdarbandha Pumping Station and Khar Danda, while the Sanitation Department Workshop, HE Ward Office and Vile Parle Fire Station received 22 mm of rainfall. The main places of waterlogging include Shakkar Panchayat, Sion Circle, Dadar TT, Hindmata, JJ Madavi Post Office, Kurne Chowk, Bindumadhav Junction (Worli) and Machaji Joshi Marg (Five Garden). Incidents of falling trees and branches have also come to light due to strong winds and rain. BMC has received information about falling of trees at 4 places in the city and 5 places in Western Sabarbs.

Meteorological department released alert

The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts for today. Yellow alert has been issued for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and other districts of Maharashtra. In the next 3-4 hours, some districts of the state are expected to thunder and heavy rain with strong winds at a speed of 50-60 km per hour. The administration has appealed to the citizens to be vigilant.
