Explosion in a chemical plant in China

Beijing: On Tuesday’s blast at a chemical plant in China, 5 people have died and 6 others are missing. The explosion caused a huge circle of fire and the smoke was seen to be hundreds of feet above. Government news agency Xinhua quoted the local emergency management bureau as saying that 19 people had suffered minor injuries in the incident.

The causes of the explosion are not known

The news of Xinhua states that the blast occurred in the government -owned Shandong Yudao Chemical, which is in Shandong Province. This pesticide is one of the world’s largest producers of ‘chlorpyrifos’. The explosion occurred in the afternoon. The reasons for this have not yet been ascertained.

More than 300 people do work

According to the report of the ‘South China Morning Post’ published from Hong Kong, the plant installed in 2019 produces about 11,000 tonnes of pesticides per year. More than 300 people work in this plant. On receiving information about the explosion, the Emergency Management Ministry immediately sent special personnel including firefighters and doctors to the scene of the incident to assist in rescue efforts.

Chinese officials took steps

Provincial and local authorities have established a joint rescue command center to coordinate rescue efforts, with the search for missing people, treatment of injured, consolation of families and focus on environment monitoring. (Language)
