Dreaded Naxalite Kunjam Hidma
The campaign against Naxalism in Odisha has got a major success. Security forces have arrested a notorious and wanted Maoist leader Kunjam Hidma. The arrest was carried out in Pethaguda forest of Bipariguda police station area of Koraput district. During the operation, the police have recovered several other weapons including an AK-47 rifle. According to sources, the security forces had received secret information that some Maoists were hiding in the area. This was followed by a search operation, in which Kunjam Hidma hidden in the dense forest of Pethguda was arrested and arrested.

From Hidma, security forces have recovered an AK-47 rifle, 34 round pill, 27 electric detonators, 90 non-electric detonators, 2 kg gun powder, 2 steel containers, 2 radio, 1 earphones, a motorola walkitky and its battery, 2 knives, 1 katari, books related to Maoist.

Hidma was preparing for a big event
During the action, it is clear from the recovery of these weapons that Hidma was preparing for a major incident. Kunjam Hidma was the Area Committee Member (ACM) of the Naxal Sangathan. Hidma’s arrest is being considered a major injury on the Naxalite network. This has not only shocked the morale of the Maoists in the region, but will also help in weakening their network. The police will now interrogate Hidma to get information about other Maoists and their locations in contact with him. Officials say they are moving towards ending the entire network through this arrest.
Naxalites were built at the age of 14
Security forces reported that Hidma joined the Maoist organization in 2007 at the age of 14, during which it worked in two wing Bal Sangham and Jan Natya Mandali of the Maoist organization. From 2007 to 2013, he was associated with Bal Sangham and JNM. Then between 2013 and 2015, he worked as a party member under the Usur Local Organization Squad (LOS) and received military training, during which he was given a single-shot rifle on behalf of the organization.
Work done in many places
Then in 2016, he started working in the AOB (Andhra Odisha Border) platoon and later in 2019 he was promoted as ACM (Area Committee Member) and a SLR rifle was given. It also worked in a military platoon under Suresh (SZCM), which was working in the Bipariguda region of Koraput district, the cut-off area of Malkangiri district (Odisha) and Pedabalu area of ASR district (Andhra Pradesh).
Work done in Sukma
Subsequently, during 2021-2022, he was appointed in AOB Platoon Section-01, working in Palmed area of Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. In 2023, he was transferred to Platoon-24 in Keralapal region under Sukma district and in 2024, temporarily sent to Platoon-26, which lives in Malangiri region of Sukma. He returned to the AOB unit in May 2025 and was active since then.
