New Delhi: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is on a visit to INS Vikrant, the first indigenous aircraft carrier of India today. The tour is taking place after the great success of Operation Sindoor, in which the Indian Navy has got its strength and strategic capacity ironed. The INS Vikrant posted in the Arabian Sea has met the Navy officials and soldiers, encouraged them and discussed the success of the operation.
What was INS Vikrant’s role in ‘Operation Sindoor’?
During Operation Sindoor, the Indian Navy along with its career Battle Group made forward deployment in the North Arabian Sea. The group was headed by INS Vikrant, including 8 to 10 Waraships, such as distrient and stealth guided missile frigate. This deployment gave a clear message to Pakistan that if it increases tension, the Indian Navy can target not only its warships, but also ground bases. As a result, the Pakistani Navy could not muster the courage to get out of Karachi Naval base and demanded a ceasefire.
Rajnath Singh visited INS Vikrant in March 2023 as well.
Why is the pride of India Ins Vikrant?
INS Vikrant is India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier, and is the most powerful watchman in India in the sea. It was designed by the Indian Navy’s Warship Design Bureau (WDB), and was built in Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), Kochi. Its estimated cost is around Rs 20,000 crore, and up to 75% of indigenous materials have been used.
After all, how big is INS Vikrant?
If INS Vikrant is called a ‘lion of sea’ or ‘Fort floating in the sea’, it will not be an exaggeration. This aircraft carrier is 262 meters long, 62 meters wide and 59 meters high, with about 30,000 tonnes of special steel (supplied by DMR Grade, Steel Authority of India Limited). It is a floating airport, capable of carrying more than 30 fighter aircraft and helicopters. MiG-29K fighter jets, Kamov helicopters and indigenous light fighter aircraft (ALH) can be deployed on its deck.
In addition, INS Vikrant is equipped with four autobrada 76 mm guns and 4 close-in weaps (CIWS), which can destroy the enemy’s missiles in the air itself. Its advanced radar and missile defense system makes it like an impervious fort in the sea.
Hearing the name of INS Vikrant, Pakistan’s condition becomes thin.
Why is Pakistan afraid of INS Vikrant?
Pakistan is very afraid of INS Vikrant and this is not hidden. Indeed, the strength of Pakistan’s Navy is limited, and it has less than 30 warships. In contrast, INS Vikrant is a powerful battle unit with his career battle group. Its forward deployment during Operation Sindoor stopped the Pakistani Navy from exiting Karachi Harbor. This vessel can not only target warships in the sea, but can also carry out accurate attacks on its fighter aircraft and missiles.
