Hajj 2025: The Haj pilgrimage will begin on June 4 in Saudi Arabia. During this time Saudi Arabia has stopped more than 2,69,000 people from entering Mecca without permission for Haj pilgrimage. Giving information about this on Sunday, the officials said that this step has been taken to control congestion during Haj and to prevent problems caused by unauthorized passengers.
14 lakh Haj pilgrims have reached maize
The government believes that in the deaths of last year during the scorching heat, a large number of people who came to perform Haj without permission. This year, about 1.4 million Muslims have already reached Mecca and more people are expected to arrive in the coming days.
Who was prevented from entering the city?
In a press conference in Mecca, officials said that they had prevented 2,69,678 Muslims from entering the city without permission. According to the rules, only people with legitimate permission are allowed to take Haj pilgrimage, even if they have been living in the city for a year. Any person trying to perform Haj without permission may lead to serious punitive action, including a fine and exile of up to US $ 5,000. Officials also stated that they have fined more than 23,000 Saudi residents for violating Haj rules and canceled licenses of 400 companies related to Haj pilgrimage.
Last year 1,301 Haj pilgrims died
Last year, at least 1,301 people died during the Haj pilgrimage. Most of these deaths occurred due to excessive heat, when the temperature in Mecca reached more than 50 degrees Celsius. Out of these deaths, more than 83% of the pilgrims who did not have the official permit to perform Haj. These unauthorized pilgrims could not get access to the air -conditioned facilities and shelters provided to the officially registered Hajis, causing them to hit the scorching heat. The number of people dying from various countries was also reported, including 98 citizens of India. In later reports, this number was also mentioned till 201. (With language input)
