Family of woman’s body up to 8 km, ambulance not found after death in hospital
Family members loaded the woman’s body
A heartbreaking and very embarrassing incident has come to light from Kandhamal district of Odisha, which has exposed the entire system. It is said that in today’s time all facilities are available in hospitals, ambulance facility is available in every village and city 24 hours. However, this incident of Kandhamal has once again proved that the ground reality is still very different.
Dead bodies picked up on the shoulder to the house
The incident is from Daringbadi area of Kandhamal district, where after the death of a pregnant woman, her body was brought to the shoulder from the hospital to the shoulder. The woman’s name is being described as Sunima Pradhan, who was the wife of Surendra Pradhan of Kajuri Paderi village. Sunima was pregnant and was rushed to the hospital for treatment after her health deteriorated. But the woman died during treatment.
Neither ambulance was found, nor government facility
After the death, when the family demanded a vehicle to take the woman’s body home, neither did they get any ambulance nor any other government facility. Forced, family and relatives together had to lift Sunima’s body to the village for about 8 kilometers.
Reminds 2016 incident
The incident reminds people of that black page of 2016, when Dana Majhi of Kalahandi picked up his wife’s body on his shoulder and took him to the village for 10 kilometers. Even at that time, the whole world had questioned India’s health system, but it seems that nothing was learned from that incident.
Claims of convenience, why were such incidents again?
There are complaints from many places that despite repeated calls, neither an ambulance is sent nor any help is provided by the hospital administration. Now the question arises that when the government claims to provide health services to every village, then why are such incidents happening? Are schemes like special schemes for pregnant women, Janani Suraksha Yojana, free ambulance service are limited to paper only?
Unhappy with the incident and angry
The entire village is sad and angry with this incident. It is now necessary that a high -level inquiry into the incident and strict action should be taken against the culprits. Also, it is also necessary that such incidents do not recur, so health services should be strengthened at the ground level. This is not just a woman, but the necklace of the entire system.
