Bomb of World War II found in Germany
Cologne: Preparations have been started to neutralize three American bombs of the Second World War time found earlier this week in Cologne, Germany. Amid this entire exercise, more than 20,000 residents have been removed from a part of the city center of the city on Wednesday. Even 80 years after the end of the war, bombs dropped during air strikes at the time of war are often found in Germany.
This happened for the first time since 1945
To deactivate such bombs, sometimes residents are required to be removed as a precaution, as it happened on Wednesday. This time this place was unusually prominent because the largest number of people have been removed in Colon since 1945.
Bombs found during road construction
On Wednesday morning, officials started removing about 20,500 residents from the area falling within 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) of bombs. These bombs were found during the preparation of road construction on Monday. Apart from homes, the region also includes 58 hotels, 9 schools, several offices, museums and railway stations.

In 2019, a bomb of World War II was found in the city of Frankfurt, Germany. The weight of this bomb was around 500 kg. After receiving the bomb, the entire area was evacuated and a team of experts was called to neutralize the bomb.
Bomb found in Italy
In 2018, a bomb of World War II was found in Boschera city of Boschera, during the cleaning of a river. The weight of the bomb was around 225 kg. A team of experts was called to deactivate it and the entire area was secured.
Bomb found in Japan
In 2022, a bomb of World War II was found at a construction site in Tokyo, Japan. The weight of this bomb was around 100 kg. Police and military forces were called to safely neutralize it. (AP)
