The scheme was launched for the purpose of irrigating the unirrigated agricultural land of the state under ‘Saat Nishchay-2’.

According to the latest data of the Department of Small Water Resources, a total of 20,228 farmers have availed the government grant of Rs 115.74 crore under this scheme since 2024. It also includes 3,877 women farmers, who have received a total subsidy of Rs 22.52 crore. This number is a symbol of the changing role and awareness of rural women of the state.

What is the Chief Minister Private Tubewell Scheme?

The foundation of this scheme is laid in areas where the ground water level is falling rapidly and irrigation of the fields is becoming difficult. Especially in such districts of South Bihar, where agricultural work is being affected due to water crisis, this scheme is proving to be life -lived.

The state government identified 21,274 such sites with the help of five departments, where the water crisis was serious. Of these, the process of installing private tube wells at 18,747 sites was started in the first phase. However, under a precaution, areas have been excluded from the scheme which have been declared ‘Ati Dohit’ and ‘crisp’ by the Central Ground Water Board.

Which farmers can get the benefit of the scheme?

The farmers can avail the benefit of this scheme who at least within the state 0.40 acres (40 decimals) He owns the land. At the same time, this condition has also been placed that the beneficiary farmer has not received any financial assistance for irrigation from any other government scheme or institution before.

Apart from this, selection is done by the farmers who are progressive and have real interest in agricultural activities. This can ensure that the benefits of the scheme are actually used for the development of farming and prosperity of farmers.
