Only Sajid Nadiadwala could dare to blow crores of rupees on such a poor story because he has written it. Seeing ‘Housefull 5’, it is understood how any script can come on screen on the basis of money. Mental torture is served to the audience in the name of comedy
Including the big names of Bollywood in this junk script is proof that the money can really get everything. Many faces which had been erased from the memories of the audience for decades, must have jumped in this film for free, just in the hope that you appear on the screen.
Tarun Mansukhan has taken up the responsibility of directing Housefull 5. In 2008, he created ‘Dostana’ which was described as a better film than necessary. After 11 years, he made a film called Drive, which producers like Karan Johar could not retire in the theater and had to be shown directly on OTT.
It is not known what Sajid Nadiadwala saw in the director who saw such a bad record, which handed over the command of Housefull 5. Tarun does not know who has made this film keeping the audience in mind. The child-youth is not a film worth watching. Neither the common audience of the single screen nor the class audience of the multiplex will like this movie.
Billionaire Ranjit (Ranjit) dies on a cruise and he declares his son Jolly, who no one saw. Three heirs come like Amar Akbar Anthony. Jalabhushan alias Jolly (Abhishek Bachchan), Jalabuddin alias Jolly (Ritesh Deshmukh) and Julius alias Jolly (Akshay Kumar) describe themselves as the right jolly. Ranjit’s furious type of staff keeps thinking about finding the real jolly and a murder is done before that.
To find out the killer, two couples police officers Bhidu (Sanjay Dutt) and Baba (Jackie Shroff) come. They have to find the murderer out of three jolly and a dozen characters, but when the matter is out of them, there is an entry of Dagdu (Nana Patekar).
This lifting slap is shown and shown in a very cheap way. Panch and humor are missing from comedy scene. The scenes are very long, boring and childish. In the beginning of the film, the arrival of three jolly and the sequence, which describes itself as the right heir, gives a glimpse that your quarter to three hours are going to be completely destroyed now. The scenes of Jackie Shroff and Sanjay Dutt also test the audience and the audience wishes to run away from the cinema.
All three heroines had to do stupid acts looking glamorous and this did not work with them. Even characters like Batuk Patel, Angha Pasta, Maya, Lucy, Captain Sameer, Shiraz, Bedi have not been able to do good for the film and no one has been written properly.
The comedy has a temper of murder mystery, causing taste to be tasteless. An attempt has been made to solve the murder mystery in a comic manner, but it has been solved in a stupid manner rather than humor.
As a script writer Sajid could not write a single scene that could bring a smile. He has accepted the film as a film by gathering a crowd of artists. All the characters of the film keep doing foolish acts and the audience keeps on scrapping her hair where they come.
Farhad Samaji has done the work of writing the dialogue and he has tried to laugh by writing a second and inferior dialogue. How can anyone laugh at ‘Ghalib’s spit paan’.
It is very difficult to make a comedy film and director Tarun Mansukhani put foot in very big shoes and has fallen in its face. He does not see any control over the film and the film keeps moving like a driver running without a driver. Neither have they been able to work properly from the artists.
Akshay Kumar is the backbone of the houseful series, but weak writing and direction have not given him a chance to do anything here. He looked helpless. Ritesh Deshmukh is known for his comic timing, but he did not get a strong scene. Abhishek Bachchan is very disappointed with his acting. Why Nana Patekar said yes for this role, he must be thinking this too.
Jacqueline Fernandes, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Chitrangada Singh are competing who does the worst acting. Jackie Shroff was very bad in terms of look and acting. Sanjay Dutt was better. Chunky Pandey, Johnny Lever, Fardeen Khan, Shreyas Talpade, Dio Moriya, Ranjit, Niktin Dheer took part of the crowd. Supporting cast also used to get a strong role in the previous houseful films, but here he appeared just like the show Peace.
The songs of the film do not match the scene nor the mood. Neither are worth listening, nor worth seeing. The condition of music is as if someone has forcefully put a play-list.
The film has been released with two endings, so that the audience buy tickets twice. But it is difficult to face once, why would anyone see again?
On the one hand, some filmmakers, writers, artists do one day and night to give something new, unique, entertaining, and on the other hand, they are making garbage in the name of cinema by blowing crores of rupees. With these, there are manifold talented to make a 10 -second reel on Instagram.
If you are wondering whether you go to see Housefull 5 or not, the answer is clear- do not go, do not think, do not remember.
