I made a four-time settlement offers in 2012-2015, including an offer of 5,000 crores, but the banks turned down.

Vijay Mallya said that you can call me a fugitive because I have not going to India since March 2016. But I did not run away. I went out of India on a pre -fixed journey. I did not return for the reasons that I feel right at that time. In such a situation, if you want to call me a fugitive, then say. But what does it mean to say a thief? Where was the theft? He said that if I get assurance of fair hearing and respectable life in India, I will think seriously about returning to India.

He said that on 2 March 2016, he was going to London for a FIA meeting in Geneva. I told the then Finance Minister Arun Jaitley that I am going. But I got stuck in London due to the cancellation of the passport. I am not a fugitive, it was not an escape plan.

In response to a question, the fugitive businessman said that I want me to be remembered as a hardworking businessman who makes a market cap of 1.75 lakh crores and not as a thief. Kingfisher failed, but I tried my best. Business failure in India is considered a fraud.
