What is the curse of Sati?
Actually, the people of this place believe that once a big incident had happened here. A Brahmin boy from Naujheel village was returning home after seeing off his newly married wife from her in-laws’ house. During that time, on the way, some people of the same town disputed with him by claiming his bullock cart as their own. In this dispute, the village people had beaten the Brahmin’s son to death. That day was the festival of Karva Chauth. After the death of her husband, the Brahmin’s wife angrily cursed that if any woman here observes Karva Chauth fast for her husband, then her husband will die. And she also committed sati with her husband’s dead body.
People built Sati temple
People say that many women became widows after this incident. After which the elders considered this incident to be the effect of Sati’s anger and asked people to apologize to Sati and build a temple in the locality. Now people believe that less women are becoming widows here. But even today the fast of Karva Chauth is not celebrated here.
