Dehradun, November 1 (IANS). The Tourism Department has made a plan to promote tourism in Uttarakhand. The old unused bridges of the state will be renovated and brought back into use. This will benefit the tourism department and also promote tourism.

For this scheme, the Tourism Department has sent a proposal to the Public Works Department, in which NOC has been sought for such bridges. It has been decided to develop the unused bridges of the Public Works Department for wayside amenities through Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council.

There are three such bridges located on the Chardham Yatra route of the Public Works Department, Deoli Bagad, Pakhi Jalgwar and Gular, which are not in use for traffic. From the tourism point of view, they were approved to be developed as wayside amenities in the form of food station/toilet/restaurant etc. through Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council. This will provide convenience to Chardham pilgrims and the state government will also get revenue.
