Due to advanced technology and improvements, these treatments have become easier, safer and more effective. India is currently noticing a popular trend of laser vision correction among brides and grooms in order to make their wedding preparations more special, according to a report published in Financial Express. But how safe are these surgeries?
Dr Sanjiv Gupta Director and Sr Eye Surgeon I Care Centre New Delhi told News9, “Laser vision correction, like LASIK, is gaining popularity, especially before weddings for its potential benefits of reduced dependence on glasses or contact lenses. However, it’s essential to weigh the pros and cons. The risks include dry eyes and other potential complications. Consultation with an eye specialist is crucial to assess candidacy and discuss individual risks. A proper pre-operative checkup needs to be done. It includes – Refraction under dilatation, Corneal topography for corneal curvature, Pachymetry for corneal thickness and Retina evaluation under dilatation.”
