Team India: Team India, which is showing excellent performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, is now being considered as a strong contender to win the title. Rohit and Company have won 6 consecutive matches against Australia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, New Zealand and England.

In the points table, Team India is at the top with maximum 12 points and it is considered certain that they will reach the semi-finals. However, if captain Rohit Sharma and the team management do not stop continuously giving chances to some players who are flopping, then the Indian team may be out of the semi-finals.

These two players are continuously proving to be flops.

Although the performance of Team India in the group stage has been quite excellent, there are some players who have proved to be a complete flop during this period. These players are Shreyas Iyer and Mohammed Siraj. Despite getting frequent opportunities, both of them have not shown impressive performance yet.

Mohammad Siraj was a part of the playing eleven in all 6 matches in the World Cup, but during this period he has taken a total of 6 wickets. They did not get a single success against a comparatively weak team like Afghanistan. At the same time, Mohammed Shami has taken 9 wickets in only 2 matches against New Zealand and England.

Shreyas Iyer’s performance has also been disappointing

28 year old Shreyas Iyer is also not able to take advantage of the continuous opportunities he is getting in the World Cup 2023. He has scored only 134 runs in 6 matches so far. This includes only one half-century innings. If Iyer’s performance continues like this, it will be difficult for India to progress beyond the semi-finals.

However, there are options for Mohammed Siraj and Shreyas Iyer in the Indian squad. But in the matches played so far, captain Rohit Sharma has tried to make minimum changes in the playing eleven and perhaps he would like to continue his efforts in future also, which may prove costly for India.
