New Delhi: Clinical India will look to continue their fantastic winning run when they take on Sri Lanka ODI World Cup match at the famous Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Both the teams last met at the same venue in the 2011 World Cup final which India won, so the entertainment level gets double as Sri Lanka would look to avenge the loss they suffered 12 years back. India’s run at the showpiece event has been best as they have thrashed all their opponents till now. They hold a record of 6 out 6 wins, having emerged as the best team in the event so far. They have been clinical in all the departments and have dominated their opponents, becoming the strongest contenders to enter the semifinal stage.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka haven’t been really successful at the event so far managing just two victories in the six matches they have played. They must be aiming to turn things around as they have not been axed from the race to the semis stage till now. India have had a proven good track record against Sri Lanka recently as they have emerged victories maximum times in ODIs. Thursday’s game will be a crucial one for both the teams as a win will give India a sure shot semis spot while a loss would throw Sri Lanka out of contention inn the race to semifinals.

2019 clash in Leeds
India registered a thumping 7-wicket win over Sri Lanka at then 2019 Cricket World Cup match in Leeds. This was the last match against Sri Lanka in the ODI World Cups. Batting first, Sri Lanka posted a score of 264 for 7 in 50 overs. Angelo Mathews played a scintillating knock of 113 runs off 128 balls, while Lahiru Thirimanne scored 53 runs off 68 balls. These were the notable contributors for the Islanders apart from other small scores posted by other batters.

For India, Jasprit Bumrah was the star of the show as he picked up three wickets while the other bowlers in the contingent picked a wicket apiece. Chasing 265, India reached the target in 43.3 overs, thanks to powerful centuries by Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul. Both the players did the bulk of the scoring to help India register an emphatic win. Virat Kohli also contributed his bit with an unbeaten knock of 34 runs.
