Mobile Phone Use Researchers said, use of mobile phone can reduce semen quality.

Science News Desk!!! A study has shown that frequent use of mobile phones that emit electromagnetic radiation can reduce sperm concentration and total sperm count. However, the study published in the journal Fertility and Sterility showed that there is no link between mobile phone use and reduced sperm motility and its structural features. Various environmental and lifestyle factors have been proposed to explain the observed decline in semen quality over the past fifty years, but the role of mobile phones has not yet been explored.

A team from the University of Geneva in Switzerland conducted a cross-sectional study based on data from 2,886 Swiss men aged 18 to 22, recruited between 2005 and 2018. The data revealed an association between frequent use of mobile phones and low sperm concentration. The average sperm concentration was significantly higher in the group of men who did not use their phones more than once a week (56.5 million/mL) compared to men who used their phones more than 20 times a day (44.5 million/mL). Used to use his phone.

Semen quality is determined by evaluating parameters such as sperm concentration, total sperm count, sperm motility and sperm morphology. According to the values established by the World Health Organization (WHO), if a man’s sperm concentration is less than 15 million per milliliter, it will probably take more than a year for him to conceive. Also, if the sperm concentration is less than 40 million per milliliter then the percentage chance of pregnancy will decrease.

Several studies have shown that semen quality has declined over the past fifty years. It is reported that the sperm count has decreased from an average of 99 million sperm per milliliter to 47 million per milliliter. This phenomenon is believed to be a result of environmental factors and lifestyle habits (diet, alcohol, stress, smoking). Data analysis also showed that the position of the phone – for example, in a trouser pocket – was not associated with lower semen parameters.
