Pakistan shocks in UNSC, president was demanding four committees related to terrorism

New Delhi: Pakistan’s move in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) could not succeed and has received a shock. The demand for the leadership of four terrorism committees of Pakistan as UNSC’s temporary member has been rejected by other members of the council.
Which four committees were being presided over by Pakistan?
Official sources said here that Pakistan had to work only under the chairmanship of 1988 Taliban Ban Committee. Pakistan has 1267 restrictions committee; 1540 (non -proliferation) restriction committee; 1988 Taliban Committee; And 1373 had demanded the chairmanship of the Anti -Terrorism Committee (CTC). Apart from the Taliban Committee, it has also been allowed to vice -president of CTC.
Other members were unhappy with Pakistan’s attitude
Due to Pakistan’s demands, the UNSC could not become a consensus, causing a delay of about five months in the process of allocation of UN committees. “The allocation should have been done by January 2025,” said an official. Other members were not happy with Pakistan’s attitude.

An official said that Pakistan’s demands have delayed the process of allocation of United Nations Committees by about five months, said: “Lack of consensus and improper demands of Pakistan stopped the consensus by June 2025. Other Council members were not happy with Pakistan’s demands and its attitude.”
An official source said on the condition of anonymity that the US, Russia, China, France and Britain did not deliberately want these committees to chaire these committees as the real power of these positions is limited and decisions can only be taken unanimously.
