April 16: Two hours hearing against Waqf Amendment Act

The Supreme Court sought an answer from the Center on the petitions filed against the Waqf Amendment Act. The court had expressed concern over the violence across the country in protest against the Waqf law. On this, SG Tushar Mehta had said that it should not seem that violence can be used to put pressure. The court said that we will decide on this.

During the hearing, Kapil Sibal had said that Hindus will now be included in the board under the Waqf Act. This is a violation of rights. On this, the Supreme Court asked the Center whether it is ready to allow Muslims to be part of Hindu religious trusts. According to the donation law of Hindus, no one can be part of the external board.
