The form may be bad, the name of Mohammed Shami! Unique record made on the first ball of the innings
Sunrisers Hyderabad fast bowler Mohammed Shami on Friday set a unique record in IPL history. On the very first ball of the match against Chennai Super Kings, Shami dismissed Sheikh Rashid and took a wicket on the first ball of an IPL innings for the fourth time. Prior to this, he has also dismissed Jacques Kallis (2014), KL Rahul (2022) and Phil Salt (2023) on the first ball of the innings. Shami has now become the bowler to take the most wickets on the first ball in IPL.
Mohammed Shami’s IPL 2025 may have faded so far, but he has caught everyone’s attention by creating history in Chepock. Shami got Sheikh Rashid caught by Abhishek Sharma in the slip on the very first ball of the innings against Chennai Super Kings and registered her name in the record book. He has become the first bowler to take a four -time wicket on the first ball in IPL history.
Earlier, Shami had dismissed Jacques Kallis in 2014, KL Rahul in 2022 and Phil Salt in 2023. A total of 41 bowlers in the IPL have taken wickets on the first ball of the innings, but no one could show continuity like Shami.
