Ahmedabad plane crash: A big accident took place in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Air India’s aircraft going to London in Meghani Nagar area near Ahmedabad Airport crashed only a few moments after flying. The aircraft had 242 people, including 10 crew members.

232 passengers and 10 crew members were aboard
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in a statement that the Air India aircraft, crashed in the residential area near Ahmedabad Airport, had 232 passengers and 10 crew members. The Boeing aircraft was seen coming down immediately after flying and crashed in Meghani Nagar area near the airport at around 2.0 pm. Immediately after the accident, a large bubble of black smoke was seen in the area.
Amit Shah left for Ahmedabad
The emergency response teams immediately reached the spot and started immediate rescue, withdrawal and fire fighting operations. Government sources said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Home Minister Amit Shah and Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu. The Prime Minister has asked both to visit Ahmedabad and provide immediate help to all those affected by this accident. After this, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has left for Ahmedabad.
The injured were admitted to the civil hospital
AI posted a post on X, “Ahmedabad-London Gatwick’s flight number AI 171 crashed today, 12 June 2025. At present we are finding out the details and soon further information will be shared on our website as well as X handle.” Police said that the aircraft has crashed in Meghaninagar area of Ahmedabad. An official said that many injured have been taken to the city. “We are collecting details about casualties.” Firefighting officer Jayesh Khadia said that firefighters have been sent to the spot to extinguish the fire.
