Large -scale investment

BSNL has fully rely on indigenous technology for its 4G service. Because of this, the company has to wait long for 4G service. Now the company is also going to start a trial of 5G service, so that private telecom companies can be dealt with the challenge being received from Airtel, Jio and Vodafone Idea. The government has decided to invest on a large scale to revive BSNL and MTNL.

In July last year, millions of users had ported their number in BSNL after private companies made the recharge plan expensive, but due to poor network coverage, many users again moved to the old operators. However, there are still many users, which are connected to BSNL’s network. According to TRAI’s recent data, the government telecom company has more than 9 million active wireless ie mobile users.

In May 2023, BSNL gave Ericsson a contract to install telecom equipment. Apart from this, Tata Consultancy Services and Tejas Network were given the task of installing mobile towers. The government telecom company has invested Rs 13 thousand crore for maintenance of its new 4G mobile tower for the next 10 years.
