Raveena Tandon, one of the leading actresses of the 1990s and 2000s, has worked with several big superstars in superhit films at the box office. Raveena Tandon made her debut with the 1991 action film Patthar Ke Phool, but became an overnight star from the successful film Mohra (1994) in terms of earnings. Directed by Rajiv Rai and produced by his father Gulshan Rai, Mohra was released in 1994, starring Naseeruddin Shah, Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, Raveena Tandon, Poonam Jhaver, Raza Murad, Paresh Rawal, Gulshan Grover and Sadashiv Amrapurkar. Mohra proved to be a significant turn of Raveena Tandon’s career which was part of the ten films released in 1994.

The film was offered to Sridevi

Mohra was first offered Sridevi. He rejected the film’s proposal due to the busyness in other films and the desire to fulfill the project like Chandramukhi. After Sridevi, Divya Bharti was proposed to act as the main woman in Mohra, but she died tragically before the film started. The filmmakers then took Raveena Tandon for the role of Akshay Kumar’s girlfriend Roma Singh and she became a star from her performance in the film.

The film was a superhit in terms of earnings

Mohra allegedly inspired the 1987 film Death Wish 4: The Crackdown and its climax was inspired by the 1992 Hong Kong film Hard Bold. After its release, Mohra started rocked at the box office and became the second highest -grossing Indian film of that year, which was only you behind. Mohra, built in a budget of Rs 3.75 crore, earned a huge amount of Rs 22.65 crore at the box office. In the film, Akshay Kumar also won the hearts of people by acting strongly. Along with this, Sunil Shetty was also seen in an important role in the film. The film was directed by Rajiv Rai. Along with this, Gulshan Rai was a producer of this film. The music of the film was given by Viju Shah and its lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi. Shabbir Boxwala wrote the screenplay of the film which people liked very much.
