Markram has become the first cricketer in South Africa to have scored a century in an ICC final. Earlier, the top score was the name of Hansi Cronia, who scored an unbeaten 61 in 77 balls against the West Indies in the 1998 Champions Trophy final.

Markram is the first opening batsman to score a century in the final of the World Test Championship. Earlier, Travis Head scored 163 runs and Steve Smith scored 121 runs in the 2023 World Test Championship final.
