Symbolic picture
Air India aircraft AI-171 fell victim to an accident in Ahmedabad on Thursday. In this accident, 241 out of 242 people inside the aircraft lost their lives. There is only a living person left in the accident. The Air India aircraft company has made a big announcement after this aircraft accident.
This decision was taken for this reason
Air India and Air India (AI) Express will never use flight number ‘171’. Sources have given this information on Saturday. 241 people aboard the aircraft were killed in this accident. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft crashed immediately after flying was operating the flight number ‘AI 171’ from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick.
Now ‘AI 159’ will be instead of flight number ‘AI 171’
Sources said on Saturday that it is a common practice that airlines stop using special flight numbers after deadly flight accidents. A source said that now from June 17, Ahmedabad-London Gatwick’s flight number will be ‘AI 171’ instead of ‘AI 159’. Necessary changes in the booking system have been made on Friday.
Prior to this, ‘IX 171’ closed
Another source said that Air India Express has also decided to close its flight number ‘IX 171’. He said that closing the flight number ‘171’ is a symbol of respect for the departed souls. Earlier in 2020, Air India Express also stopped using the flight number of crashed aircraft in Kozhikode. 21 people were killed in this accident. (With language input)
