The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in the coastal areas of Goa, Kerala and Karnataka for Monday (June 16). There is a possibility of heavy rains on these areas. There may be waterlogging on the low -lying areas. People have been asked to be ready for this. At the same time, strong winds are expected to cause light rain in Chhattisgarh and Odisha. There is a possibility of thunder light lightning. In such a situation, people are advised not to stop under the big tree during the rain. In Uttarakhand too, heavy rains are likely to continue for the next one week. In view of this, an orange alert has been issued in the state.

Most of the districts of Kerala have been receiving torrential rains since Sunday. The Indian Meteorological Department predicts that heavy to very heavy rains will continue in the state till June 18. On Monday, a red alert has been declared for five districts, while an orange alert has been issued for six.

In view of the possibility of heavy rains, the district collectors of Thrissur, Pallakkad, Kannur, Wayanad, Malappuram, Kottayam, Kozhikode, Idukki, Ernakulam, Pathanamthitta and Kasargod have declared a holiday in all educational institutions in the districts on Monday. The Alpuzha District Collector has announced a holiday in Kuttnad taluka. Apart from these districts, Yellow alert has been issued for the capital Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Alappuzha. According to the Meteorological Department, waves are expected to rise in the coastal areas of Kerala and Mahi from 3.1 meters to 3.4 meters. Fishermen have been advised not to go to these marine areas by 18 June.

Officials said that due to rain, power supply in some areas was disrupted. According to IMD, there was rain with lightning between 2.30 pm and between 4:30 in the morning.

IMD says that by Monday evening, there is a possibility of splashing with thunderstorms, lightning, light to moderate rains and winds at a speed of 50-60 kilometers per hour. The maximum and minimum temperatures on Monday are likely to be around 37 ° C and around 23 ° C respectively. According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s air quality was recorded in the “satisfactory” category at 4 pm on Sunday, with the air quality index (AQI) 62.
