Famous filmmaker-director Imtiaz Ali is celebrating his birthday on 16 June today. Born on 16 June 1971 in Jamshedpur, Imtiaz’s father was an engineer in the irrigation department and his mother was a housewife. Imtiaz Ali came into the film industry with the dream of becoming an actor. But, something else was written in his luck. He started his direction not by directing the big screen, but by directing the TV serials. Very few people know that he used to act before becoming a director. Today he is not interested in any identity. He is known for the best films like ‘Jab We Met’, ‘Love Aaj Kal’, ‘Highway’, ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ and ‘Rockstar’.

Imtiaz is studying Shrimad Bhagavad Gita since childhood

Srimad Bhagavad Gita has had a significant impact in Imtiaz’s life. In an interview to Ranveer Allahbadia, he said, ‘I had read Hindu mythological books in my childhood and it has also had a lot of impact in my life. Gita is an important book in my life which you will still find on my table. While reading this book, I had some things that had to be read 10-12 times … but after that I used to read some pages every day. Now I know this book deeply. I am fortunate that I read this book in childhood.

Serial directed before films

Imtiaz has also directed serials like ‘Kurukshetra’ and ‘Mahabharata’ before coming to Bollywood. After TV, he turned to films. After this, Imtiaz first directed the film ‘Socha Na Tha’. However, the film proved to be a flop. After many years of struggle, their luck changed with Shahid and Kareena’s film ‘Jab We Met’ in 2006. Not only this, he also made a splash from the film ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ on OTT. Imtiaz Ali is now ready to work with Diljit Dosanjh again after about a year, which will be Sharavari Wagh, Vedang Raina and Naseeruddin Shah. What is its title so far, this makers have not announced.
