Bihar News: A driver working in Bihar Police has been accused of serious allegations who left their first wife and got married in the greed of money and land. Accused driver Manorath Kumar, who is currently posted at Barbigha police station in Sheikhpura district, has been registered in Saharsa Mahila police station for dowry harassment, attempting to kill and double marriage.
Behavior changed after marriage, demand for greed started
Manorath Kumar is a resident of Navhatta police station area. She was married on 10 June 2021 with a lot of pomp to a young woman resident of Saharsa. During the wedding, the girl’s father gave Rs 21.51 lakh cash, precious gold-silver jewelry, expensive furniture and many other essential items. Initially everything was normal, but after a few months the victim had to return to his maternal home.
Meanwhile, in February 2022, Manorath got a driver’s job in Bihar Police and his posting was done in Sheikhpura district. After this, according to the victim, Manorath’s behavior completely changed. He repeatedly put pressure on his wife to bring 25 lakh rupees and two kattha land from his maternal home. When this demand was not met, Manorath started torturing his wife physically and mentally.
Try to burn by adding kerosene, then threatened from home
In her complaint lodged with the police, the victim told that on 24 June 2024, Manorath came to her in -laws and tried to burn by spraying kerosene there. When he failed, he threatened that if his demands were not met, he would kill him or expel him forever. Somehow the victim called her brother, who arrived in time and took her to her maternal home.
Second marriage in Darbhanga, not given information to first wife
The boundary of this atrocities crossed when Manorath got married on 7 March 2025 in a temple in Darbhanga. When the first wife came to know about this, the ground slipped under her feet. After this, he immediately reached Saharsa Mahila police station and informed about the whole incident and pleaded for justice.
FIR lodged, police started investigation
Confirming the case, Saharsa Women Police Station Sujata Rani said that a case has been registered against Manorath Kumar under several serious sections of the Indian Penal Code. He said that in view of the seriousness of the case, the investigation is being carried forward rapidly. If found guilty, strict action will be taken as per rules.
