How to worship Sheetla Mata on Ashada’s Ashtami, know the right way

Worship of Sheetla Mata to Ashada Krishna Ashtami is also similar to Chaitra Shitalashtami:
1. Preparation on the eve (Saptami night):
– All the food (Basaura) offering to Sheetla Mata is prepared on the evening of Sheetla Saptami or at night itself. It includes sweet rice, puri, pu, dumplings, yogurt, dumplings, sweet mathris etc.
– The stove is not burnt in the houses so that the mother gets coolness.
2. On Ashtami day (morning):
Wake up early in the morning and retire from bathing etc. and wear clean clothes.
– Prepare two plates of worship:
First Thali: Place stale food (Basaura) in it.
Second Thali: Keep worship materials like Roli, Kumkum, Turmeric, Rice (Akshat), Mehndi, Moli, Cloth (thread), coins, flour lamps (without burnt), holy water and neem leaves.
– Go to the temple of Sheetla Mata or install her idol/picture at home.
– First of all offer water to the mother.
– Then apply roli, kumkum, turmeric vaccine. Offer mehndi, moli and clothes.
– Offer the dough lamp without burning it to the mother.
– Offer stale food.
– Worship the mother with neem leaves, because neem is considered to provide coolness and with medicinal properties.
– Listen or read the fast story of Sheetla Mata.
– Perform Aarti of Mother.
After worshiping, apply the remaining water on your eyes and sprinkle the rest in the house, so that there is happiness and peace in the house and protects against diseases.
Finally, all the members of the house consume stale food as offerings.
Thus, Ashada Krishna Ashtami is celebrated with the message of health, hygiene and coolness to the Ashtami, and the tradition of ‘Basaura’ reflects its religious and scientific importance.
