Ranchi, 23 November (IANS). Lendl Simmons’ innings went in vain as Gujarat Giants registered a thrilling three-run win over Bhilwara Kings in the fourth match of the Legends League Cricket (LLC) at the JSCA Cricket Stadium here.
Responding to Chris Gayle’s explosive innings in the first innings, his former Caribbean teammate Simmons performed brilliantly to dominate the match by playing an inning of 99 runs, but he could not help his team win on the last ball of the match.
Simmons played an unbeaten inning of 99 runs facing 61 balls, which included 12 fours and 3 sixes.
Earlier, Bhilwara Kings won the toss and decided to bowl first. Chris Gayle played a stormy inning of 50 runs in 23 balls. On the basis of this innings, Gujarat Giants scored 172 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs.
In reply, Bhilwara Kings could score only 169 runs and Gujarat Giants won the match by 3 runs.
While bowling for Bhilwara Kings, Jessel Karia and Rahul Sharma took 2-2 wickets and Christopher Barnwell got 1 success.
