The Supreme Court has expressed strong displeasure over the release of actor Kamal Haasan’s film Thug Life in Karnataka. The court said that no one can be prevented from watching the film by pointing a gun on the heads of the people.

A bench of Justice Ujjal Bhuiyan and Justice Manmohan told the Karnataka government that when a film has received a certificate from the censor board, it should be shown in every state of the country. The court has given the state government one day time to clear the situation on the release of the film.

Actually, the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) demanded that the film will not be released until Haasan apologizes. Now the Supreme Court has sought an answer from the state government on this issue and has transferred the matter to the High Court. The next hearing will be held on June 19.

Kamal Haasan made a controversial statement about Kannada during the audio launch event of ‘Thug Life’ in Chennai on 24 May. He had said that Kannada language is born from Tamil. After this, the actor and his film are continuously opposing in Karnataka.

SC said- High court is not appropriate to ask Haasan to apologize

The court also objected to the Karnataka High Court’s remarks in which Kamal Haasan was asked for apology. The Supreme Court said that it is not appropriate for the High Court to ask Haasan to apologize. The film Thug Life was released across the country on 5 June, but was not allowed to be released in Karnataka.
