Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani, president of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, has strongly supported the caste-based census to be held in the country, issuing an important statement. He has hoped that this process will ensure justice, correct policy making and equal distribution of resources. Maulana Madani said that caste -based census is no longer a government formality, but it has become a social and political need. Statistics from this will have a direct impact on reservation policy, social development schemes and fair distribution of welfare benefits.

Maulana Madani made this appeal to Muslims

In this context, Maulana Madani has appealed to all the Muslims of the country to actively participate in this census process. Every Muslim family should ensure that the identity of their prevailing caste is recorded correctly. The local units of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, all Muslim organizations, religious institutions and community have been requested to guide the common people and make them aware of the long-term effects of this process.

‘Efforts should be made to bring justice to weak Muslims’

Maulana Madani also clarified that this step is not against the principles of Islamic equality, but it is a practical need. He said that although Islam supports an equality-based society, a large part of Muslims in India has remained socially and economically backward. He said that now the time has come to consider it a moral and constitutional duty, try to get justice to the most disadvantaged sections, especially backward and weak Muslims. We demand from the Government of India that caste -based census should be done with transparency, fairness and serious work and no community should be discriminated against.
